Embark on a musical journey through the timeless elegance of Purcell and Handel, two of Baroque music’s greatest masters.
Our performance opens with Purcell’s Chaconne in G minor, an enchanting dance that sets a graceful tone, followed by the grandeur of Handel’s See, from his post Euphrates flies from Belshazzar. Next, the haunting beauty of Purcell’s Chaconne from King Arthur unfolds before the stately magnificence of Handel’s Nisi Dominus.
The first half concludes with Purcell’s radiant anthem My heart is inditing, paving the way for the uplifting O sing unto the Lord in the second half, a brilliant prelude to the evening’s crown jewel: Handel’s powerful and awe-inspiring Dixit Dominus. This masterful piece brings the concert to a triumphant close, a celebration of Baroque splendour and the enduring power of music.
